Today, Olivier from Every Daily Photo passed along to me the Kreativ Blogger award, with the stipulation that I share six things that make me happy, and then pass it along to six fellow bloggers.
Not as easy as it seems. If I really have to chose 6 things that make my happy, I'll go for these ones at the moment :- - Attending good rock'n'roll gigs
- - Spending time with close friends and family
- - Having a nice diner with cheese, wine and friends again!
- - My lovely black kitten (best cat in the world, believe me!)
- - Being able to do something with my voice (though I wouldn't call that "singing" yet!)
- - Finally being able to think that not all my pictures are rubbish!
This is for Adam, from Invisible Paris who like my pics when they're "glauque" !
Another version of this picture is available here : L'Orange qui Saigne.
Today you'll be treated to 2 pics for the price of 1 (!) because I'm really late in my posting.
They are both from Moriarty again. And here is another song (maybe my favourite) from this band :I also wanted to thank Stormel from Oslo Daily Photo for giving me the "Blogging Friends Forever" Award. I'm supposed to pass it on to 5 fellow bloggers of my choice according to the following rules :
1. Only five people are allowed
2. Four have to be dedicated followers of your blog
3. One has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world
4. You must link back to whoever gave you the award
So here are my choices for this award (random order):
- Evry Daily Photo (Olivier)
- Peter's Paris
- Saint Louis Daily Photo (Strangetastes)
- Seattle Daily Photo (Kim)
- Invisible Paris (Adam).
Have a nice week-end everyone.
I'm a bit short in time at the moment. I came back from Clermont-Ferrand at 3am this morning (I went there to see my favourite band, The Kills, play!!!) and I didn't have time to prepare a new pic for today. Plus some stupid fuckers (sorry!) destroyed the back windscreen of my car so I've got to get it fixed this afternoon. GRrrrrrrrrrr!
But don't worry everything will be back to normal tomorrow. I'm shooting Moriarty tonight and you'll be able to see the pics tomorrow.
A picture from the wonderful gig I attended yesterday night in the small venue called Le Ciel, on Condillac Street. The two bands playing were Left Lane Cruiser (blues) and Elliott Brood (folk rock). It was a brilliant evening with two great, great bands!
I chatted a bit with the guys in Elliott Brood at the end of the gig and they don't just play excellent music, they're real nice people too!
If you want to listen to their music, here is a little tune, not my favourite but I haven't found it on deezer.com. But you can visit their website and have a listen to "Write it all down for you"...
I'm sorry for being so late in my posting but I've got a little problem with my arms so I can't really take pictures at the moment and I'm very slow processing the older ones. But don't worry I'm not stopping posting and today's picture is coming soon.
This Sator Square can be found on Jean-Jacques Rousseau St.
The SATOR Square
The usual translation is as follows:
- Sator :'Sower', 'planter'
- Arepo :Likely an invented proper name; its similarity with arrepo, from ad repo, 'I creep towards', is coincidental
- Tenet :'he holds'
- Opera :'works', '(cares)', 'efforts'
- Rotas :'wheels'
Two possible translations of the phrase are 'The sower Arepo holds the wheels with effort' and 'The sower Arepo leads with his hand (work) the plough (wheels).'
The word arepo is enigmatic, appearing nowhere else in Latin literature. Most of those who have studied the Sator Square agree that it is a proper name, either an adaptation of a non-Latin word or most likely a name invented specifically for this sentence. Jerome Carcopino thought that it came from a Celtic, specifically Gaulish, word for plough. David Daube argued that it represented a Hebrew or Aramaic rendition of the Greek Αλφα ω, or "Alpha-Omega" by early Christians. J. Gwyn Griffiths contended that it came, via Alexandria, from the attested Egyptian name Ḥr-Ḥp, which he took to mean "the face of Apis " (extract from Wikipedia).
Helical car-park.
00:14 | Libellés : black and white
Car-park built between 1928 and 1932. It can be found on Bressieux Street. I just spent about 5 minutes in there, no more, so I definitely have to go back with the right lenses and a tripod because there is a million possibilities to take great pictures here!
