A day in the mountains.

Today, I had to go to L'Alpe d'Huez for my work. As you can see on this picture, the weather wasn't exactly what we could describe as fine! When I arrived, it was even snowing. And I found it quite funny because L'Alpe d'Huez is nicknamed l'Ile au Soleil ("Sunny Island")!

That is one enormous mountain. I can't imagine how the Tour de France cyclists were not dead by the time they arrived at that altitude. Did you drive or fly?

m.benaut> I drove there. And the picture was taken from one of the famous hairpin bends were the Tour de France cyclists suffer year afer year!

oh, what a beautiful mountain!
It must be incredily hard to ride your bike as the Tour participants do every year!

I looked on Google Earth, those mountains are massive. I remember that also from 1998 when driving south out of the town, the snow capped peaks, beautiful

I spent a few months in Alpe De Huez a few years back, great skiing and Grenoble was a nice trip for groceries and, embarrassingly now, a McDonalds!
