Grenoble as a British city (1).

May theme day gave me inspiration. So I've decided to offer you a little trip to a different Grenoble, an English-speaking Grenoble...

First stop : O'Callaghan Irish Pub. If you want to have a good old pint of Guinness there, you'll have to head for the Place de Bérulle, just by the river Isère. A three-minute walk from the city centre, and you'll find yourself right in the middle of Dublin.
This pub is really popular. If you decide to go there on a Rugby night, I advise you to get in early 'cause it will be packed by the first minutes of the game!

Great photo; great place to visit!

I love it - these Irish/British pubs seem to spring up all over the world like nothing else for any other nationalities. Nice photo.

Nice photograph. I have never been in an English pub. We have none here. We have what we call, "Beer Joints" and unless you smoke (that is illegal here now in all public places) or like blurry television hanging from the ceiling, beer joints are no place to be or to take your date. I suppose the English Pub is a lot different.

abraham lincoln> Here in France it is not illegal to smoke in pubs and restaurants yet. We still have one more year to wait before having the right to enjoy a drink without any smelly smoke around! So I guess for the moment our pubs are not so different from the "Beer Joints" you told me about. But for my part, even if I'm a non-smoker, I really enjoy meeting up with my friends in places like O'Callaghan.
